About FairWatchTrade

Welcome. Long before I found myself collecting watches, I worked in IT infrastructure consulting in Northern Virginia. But FairWatchTrade was not born from a business plan. It grew out of a personal search.

It was almost Mother’s Day, and I had started looking for a gift for my wife. I knew it needed a distinctive mother-of-pearl design and a sense that every detail had been chosen intentionally. Beyond that, I had no manufacturer, collection, or reference in mind.

I quickly learned that without those details already in mind, shopping could become a wall of watches. Even after discovering a promising reference, finding one for sale could be nearly impossible—or it would be buried beneath listings that described the same watch inconsistently.

Eventually, I was writing custom batch files just to search the market for a particular reference, dial, or combination of details.

I did eventually find the perfect watch. But along the way, I found myself sitting down one night—not to create another marketplace, but to solve a problem collectors had quietly lived with for years.

It was not only the search. It was also the financial penalty for wanting to move from one reference to another, compare related watches, or continue following the details that had drawn you in.

I built FairWatchTrade to be the platform I wish had existed: designed by a collector, for collectors.
